Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week - Jan. 5

MADISON, Wis.--Following are the WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Sam Greiger, Junior (Randolph, Wis./Randolph), Guard of UW-La Crosse
Grieger averaged 24.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in three UW-La Crosse victories. He was named the MVP of the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament at St. Norbert College (Wis.), averaging 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals. Grieger had 17 points, five steals and four rebounds in a win over North Central University (Minn.) on Dec. 29, while finishing with 22 points, four rebounds and four assists in the tournament championship game victory over St. Norbert on Dec. 30. He opened WIAC play with 34 points, five assists and four rebounds in a win over UW-River Falls on Jan. 3. Grieger shot 58.0 percent (29-of-50) from the field for the week, including 60.0 percent (six-of-10) from three-point range, and 100.0 percent (nine-of-nine) at the free throw line.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Paige Seckar, Sophomore (Oshkosh, Wis./Oshkosh West), Forward of UW-Oshkosh
Seckar helped the Titans to three wins over regional opponents, averaging 17.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per contest. She shot 56.3 percent (18-of-32) from the field and 94.1 percent (16-of-17) from the line, including 15 consecutive. Seckar recorded her second double-double of the season against the University of Minnesota Morris in the UW-Oshkosh BSN Winter Classic on Dec. 28, with 17 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-3 from the line, while recording four steals and two assists. She scored 15 points by shooting 5-of-7 from the field and 5-of-5 from the line with seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals in UW-Oshkosh’s win over UW-Superior in the second day of the Winter Classic on Dec. 29.  In the Titans’ WIAC opener against UW-Whitewater at Kolf Sports Center on Jan. 3, Seckar paced all scorers with 20 points by going 6-of-12 from the field and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. She tallied nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block in the 71-63 win.

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS

Kaelyn Duman, Junior (San Antonio, Texas/Texas Connections Academy), of Winona State University
Competing at the UW-Oshkosh Quadrangular on Jan. 3, Duman tied for second on the balance beam with a 9.650, tying her personal best.

Multi-Specialist
Reanna McGibboney, Senior (Chester Springs, Pa./Downington East), of UW-Oshkosh
McGibboney helped the Titans win their season-opening home quadrangular Jan. 3, by winning the floor exercise title and taking third on both the vault and uneven bars. She scored a 9.575 on the vault and a 9.675 on the uneven bars before returning to the mat for a 9.825-point performance in the floor exercise, outscoring the second-place finisher by a full point.

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY
Kullan Daikawa, Senior (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial), Forward of UW-Stout
Daikawa scored two goals to help UW-Stout to a road sweep over No. 3-ranked St. Norbert College (Wis.) and UW-River Falls. He scored a powerplay goal against St. Norbert in the second period to draw UW-Stout within a goal at 4-3, the first of four straight by the Blue Devils to turn a 4-2 deficit to a 6-4 victory. Daikawa then scored the game-winning goal in the second period, and was a +3, against UW-River Falls to complete the season sweep of the Falcons.

WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY
MaKenna Aure, Senior (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria), Defense of UW-River Falls
Aure delivered a historic weekend for the Falcons. She recorded her 100th career point and became the first defender in program history to eclipse the 100-point mark. Across a two-game series against Concordia College-Moorhead (Minn.), Aure totaled three goals and four assists as the Falcons outscored the Cobbers 15-3 over the two games.

WRESTLING
Wyatt Magolski, Sophomore (New London, Wis./New London), 133 pounds of UW-La Crosse
Magolski won the 133-pound title at the Central College (Iowa) Under Armour Invitational on Jan. 3 with a 4-0 record. He opened with a win by fall (1:55) over Mitchell Pins of Wartburg College (Iowa) before a decision (3-0) over Ethan Skoglund of Northwestern College (Iowa) in the second round. Magolski won by decision (13-6) over Eli Sneed of Cornell College (Iowa) in the semifinals and took the championship with sudden victory (5-2) over Jayson Stevens of Cornell.  Sneed is ranked 12th in the NWCA.
