MEN'S BASKETBALL Carter Lichtsinn, Senior (Olathe, Kan./Olathe West), Forward of UW-Eau Claire Lichtsinn helped UW-Eau Claire record their best start since the 1999 campaign with the team's seventh and eighth wins of the season. He led the Blugolds in scoring during victories over Bethel University (Minn.) and St. Olaf College (Minn.), averaging 17.5 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game. Lichtsinn's double-double against the Royals on Nov. 25, was his first of the season as he leads UW-Eau Claire in total points and rebounds. (Mukwonago) WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Delaney Nyenhuis, Sophomore (Fitchburg, Wis./Oregon), Forward of UW-Eau Claire Nyenhuis helped the Blugolds extend their win streak to five games with wins over St. Norbert College (Wis.) and University of Minnesota-Morris. She posted her third double-double of the season against the Green Knights on Nov. 25, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 boards, including four offensive rebounds. On Nov. 30, Nyenhuis continued her strong play in the paint with 13 rebounds, including seven offensive, as she averaged 12.5 rebounds during the week. Defensively, Nyenhuis recorded 4.5 steals a game as the Blugolds tallied 27 points off turnovers during the two victories. Also nominated: UW-La Crosse, Ali Sprangers, Senior, Forward, Kimberly, Wis. (Sheboygan Lutheran) MEN’S ICE HOCKEY Luke Lavery, Freshman (Nanaimo, British Columbia), Forward of UW-Eau Claire Lavery helped UW-Eau Claire upset No. 3-ranked St. Norbert College (Wis.) on Nov. 29. He opened the scoring just 1:29 into the first period to give the Blugolds the lead. After the Green Knights tied the game in the second period, Lavery netted his second goal of the game and fourth goal of the season less than two minutes after the St. Norbert goal to regain the lead for the Blugolds on their way to a 4-2 win. Lavery led UW-Eau Claire during the home and home series against the Green Knights with seven shots on goal. Also nominated: UW-Superior, Daniel Rozsival, Junior, Forward, Chicago, Ill. (North Shore Country Day) WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY Sophia Hess, Freshman (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori), Forward of UW-River Falls Hess helped lead the No. 1-ranked Falcons to a 3-0 week, defeating St. Olaf College (Minn.) at home before heading to Vermont and winning the Panther/Cardinal Classic, taking down top 10 opponents Plattsburgh State (N.Y.) and Endicott College (Mass.). Hess totaled three points on the week with two goals and an assist, including the game-winner in the Panther/Cardinal Classic Championship game on Nov. 30, and was named the Tournament MVP and to the All-Tournament Team.
