Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week - Dec. 22

MADISON, Wis.--Following are the WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 15 - 21.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Isaac Verges, Senior (Franklin, Wis/Franklin), Guard of UW-Whitewater
In a tie game against Hope College (Mich.) on Dec. 19, Verges made the half-court buzzer beater for a 95-92 victory over the Flying Dutchmen. Verges stole the inbound pass before heaving the shot from half court to score the decisive basket. He finished with a double-double, scoring 19 points & collecting 10 rebounds. Verges capped the Michigan trip with nine points in 13 minutes in UW-Whitewater's 90-61 win over Alma College (Mich.).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Caden Krohn, Sophomore (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West), Forward of UW-Whitewater
Krohn led UW-Whitewater to a pair of wins in Texas during the week, including a 35-point victory over No. 14-ranked East Texas Baptist University. She opened the trip with a career-high 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor and a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc in UW-Whitewater's win over University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. In the top 15 battle against East Texas Baptist, Krohn had nine points, two steals and a blocked shot. For the week, Krohn shot 65 percent from the floor (13-of-20), 67 percent from three-point range (2-of-3) and added three steals and three blocks.

WRESTLING
Ryan Hanson, Freshman (McHenry, Ill./McHenry), 133 pounds of UW-Oshkosh
Hanson went undefeated at the Gator ‘Boots’ Duals on Dec. 20, with two wins by pin fall and victory by decision at 133 pounds. He outdueled Blaise Verdino of Ursinus College (Pa.), 18-15, in the Titans’ first dual of the day before helping UW-Oshkosh pick up the 36-13 win over Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio) with a 1:32 pin of Reid Prenger. Hanson took Hunter Rabun from Huntingdon College (Pa.) to the mat in 43 seconds during a 22-22 tiebreaker loss between the Titans and Hawks.
