UW-La Crosse Wins NCAA Women’s Cross Country North Regional; Five Teams In Top Seven

NORTHFIELD, Minn.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country North Regional held at Bill Huyck Championship Cross Country Course on Nov. 16. In addition, five Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams placed in the top seven.
 
UW-La Crosse compiled 63 points for the third regional crown in program history (2001, 2021). St. Olaf College (Minn.) placed second with 99 points, Carleton College (Minn.) – the host institution – third with 114, UW-Eau Claire fourth with 118, UW-Stout fifth with 125, UW-Whitewater sixth with 157 and UW-Oshkosh seventh with 186.
 
Additional finishes by conference teams included: UW-Platteville 12th with 364 points; UW-River Falls 13th with 414; and UW-Stevens Point 14th with 425. A total of 31 squads compiled team scores.
 
Hannah Preisser of Carleton secured the individual title in a field of 222 runners, completing the 6,000-meter course in 21:24.1.
 
UW-Stout’s Brekkyn Lammert was the top WIAC finisher, placing second in 21:59.7, while teammate Mckayla Felton was third in 22:03.7. UW-Oshkosh’s Amelia Lehman took seventh in 22:15.2, UW-Stout’s Arely Jaime Luevano eighth in 22:15.8, UW-Eau Claire’s Keeley Behr ninth in 22:19.8 and UW-La Crosse’s Madelynn McIntyre 10th in 22:22.5.
 
Additional conference runners securing All-North Region accolades for placing in the top 35 included: UW-La Crosse’s Mallory Reiser (11th in 22:24.4); UW-La Crosse’s Katelyn Chadwick (12th in 22:24.8); UW-Whitewater’s Ari De La Cerda (13th in 22:24.9); UW-La Crosse’s Gwen Hinz (14th in 22:32.7); UW-La Crosse’s Sierra Rabe (16th in 22:36.9); UW-La Crosse’s Brooklyn Luebke (17th in 22:37.1); UW-Whitewater’s Payton Scoggin (19th in 22:39.2); UW-Eau Claire’s Molly Heidorn (22nd in 22:48.3); UW-Eau Claire’s Bella Hooker (24th in 22:50.4); UW-Eau Claire’s Reagan Zimmerman (28th in 22:53.2); UW-Whitewater’s Renee Forystek (29th in 22:54.4); UW-Oshkosh’s Libby Geisness (31st in 23:04.6); and UW-Eau Claire’s Allison Weissinger (35th in 23:07.3).
