UW-La Crosse's Gregg and UW-Eau Claire's Ekoue Named WIAC Kwik Trip Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Ethan Gregg and UW-Eau Claire's Yakob Ekoue have been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 16 - 22.

Gregg (Jr., La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) won the 3,000-meter run with a school record time of 8:09.94 as UW-La Crosse won the Pat Healy Classic on Jan. 21. He broke Brett Burt's school record of 8:15.21 set in 1989. Gregg's time also ranks first on the NCAA Division III Honor Roll. Teammate Isaac Wegner also broke Burt's school record. The Pat Healy Classic was the inaugural collegiate meet in the newly constructed UW-La Crosse Fieldhouse, featuring a fast track. 
 
Ekoue (Sr., Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins) won both the shot put and 35-pound weight throw at the UW-Platteville Triangular on Jan. 21. His throw of 56-11 1/2 (17.36m) in the shot put ranks first in the WIAC and second in NCAA Division III. Ekoue’s throw of 59-5 (18.11m) in the 35-pound weight throw ranks first in the WIAC and sixth in NCAA Division III.
