UW-Whitewater's Fassbender and UW-Eau Claire's Weaver Named WIAC Kwik Trip Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's David Fassbender and UW-Eau Claire's Marcus Weaver have been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 24 - 30.

Fassbender (Sr., Slinger, Wis./Slinger) broke an eight-year-old facility record and won the 3,000-meter run on to help the No. 11-ranked Warhawks finish third at the “Squig” Converse Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse on Jan. 28. His time of 8:17.42, which topped a field of 61 competitors and edged the previous facility record by 0.38 seconds, currently leads the WIAC and ranks fourth in NCAA Division III. Fassbender was just under two seconds shy of his own school record in the event.
 
Weaver (Jr., Lewiston, Minn./Lewiston-Altura) set the NCAA Division III record in the heptathlon scoring 5,533 points at UW-Stout’s Warren Bowlus Open held Jan. 28-29. His score is No. 1 in the WIAC and in the nation.
