Three Claim USTFCCCA Men’s National Indoor Awards

Official USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS
--Three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have received NCAA Division III Men’s National awards for the 2025 indoor season from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Sam Blaskowski was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Year, while UW-Oshkosh’s Joshua Rivers received Men’s Field Athlete of the Year and UW-La Crosse’s Josh Buchholtz collected Men’s Coach of the Year honors.

Blaskowski received the USTFCCCA award for the second straight year. He capped a record-breaking season by sweeping the short sprints at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship. He took down his own 60-meter meet record in the prelims with his 6.62 seconds effort and then matched that in the final. Then, Blaskowski turned one lap in a season-leading 21.26 seconds to win the 200-meter dash by 0.20 seconds. Earlier in the season, Blaskowski shattered his own NCAA Division III record in the 60 meters with his 6.60 seconds in the prelims of the WIAC championship. He ended the indoor season with four of the fastest marks in NCAA Division III history in that event.

Rivers put a stamp on a sensational season with a meet-record victory in the long jump at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship. He soared 25-7 1/2 (7.81m) to obliterate a 26-year-old meet best. That was one of three marks of 7.81m or better this season, which included a massive 26-8 1/4 (8.13m) effort to shatter the NCAA Division III record in the event in early December.

Buchholtz, in his 17th year at UW-La Crosse, led the Eagles to the team title at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship, scoring a meet-record 84 points, while winning four events – the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash by Sam Blaskowski, 800-meter run by Cael Schoemann and 5,000-meter run by Grant Matthai. UW-La Crosse also won the team title at the WIAC championship, securing six events.
