Men's Indoor Track and Field 3/21/2025 11:50:52 AM Three Receive Top USTFCCCA Men’s North Region Awards; 58 Claim All-Region Recognition Official USTFCCCA Releases - All-Region Team | Awards NEW ORLEANS--Three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have received NCAA Division III regional awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2025 men’s indoor season. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Sam Blaskowski and Josh Buchholtz were tabbed the North Region Track Athlete of the Year and North Region Coach of the Year, respectively, while UW-Oshkosh’s Joshua Rivers received North Region Field Athlete of the Year accolades. Blaskowski secured the distinction for the third time in his career (2022, 2023) and capped a record-breaking season by sweeping the short sprints at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. He obliterated his own NCAA Division III record in the 60 meters when he went 6.60 seconds in the prelims at the WIAC championship. Blaskowski later went 6.62 seconds in the final, which would have also bettered the previous all-time best of 6.64 seconds. He ended the season with four of the fastest marks in NCAA Division III history in the 60 meters: 6.60 seconds and a trio of 6.62 seconds. Buchholtz, in his 17th year as head coach at UW-La Crosse, led the Eagles to the team title at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, scoring a championship-record 84 points while winning four events – the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash by Sam Blaskowski, 800-meter run by Cael Schoemann and 5,000-meter run by Grant Matthai. UW-La Crosse also won the team title at the WIAC championship, winning six events. Rivers capped a record-breaking season in the long jump with a victory at the national meet. He soared 25-7 1/2 (7.81m) to obliterate a 26-year-old meet record. That was one of three marks of 7.81m or better this season, which included a massive 26-8 1/4 (8.13m) effort to shatter the NCAA Division III record in the event in early December. The USTFCCCA also announced the All-North Region Team that included 58 conference performers. To be named All-Region, an athlete must be ranked in the top-five of an individual event in the region on the TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a region’s top-three relay team was selected for distinction. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions are eligible for the award.
