UW-Platteville’s Pearson and Gard Receive Top D3hoops.com and NABC Regional Awards

MADISON, Wis.
--University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Logan Pearson was selected the 2025 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 9 Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Region 9 Player of the Year to lead the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals receiving All-Region status. In addition, UW-Platteville head coach Jeff Gard received Coach of the Year honors from the NABC.
 
Pearson claimed the top regional award from both organizations for the second consecutive year. The 2025 WIAC Kwik Trip Player of the Year averaged a conference-high 19.8 points per game and became just the eighth player in conference history to surpass 2,000 career points. Pearson ranked third in the WIAC with an 82.9 free throw percentage, fourth with a 37.2 three-point percentage and eighth with a 51.0 field goal percentage. He concluded his Pioneers career with 2,112 points, which is the sixth-most all-time in WIAC history.
 
UW-Eau Claire’s Carter Huschka joined Pearson on the D3hoops.com first team and was a NABC second team honoree. Huschka placed second in the WIAC with 19.0 points per game, and third with 8.1 rebounds per contest and 1.2 blocks per game. He had seven double-doubles and averaged 20.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest in eight games against Top 25 opponents.
 
UW-La Crosse Sam Grieger joined Pearson on the NABC first team and was a D3hoops.com second team selection. Grieger led the team with 15.9 points per game and 2.7 assists per contest, while ranking second with 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He scored in double figures in 26 contests and had a career-high 30 points at UW-Stevens Point on Jan. 11, and versus Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) on March 15.
 
UW-La Crosse’s Dustin Derousseau claimed third team recognition from D3hoops.com.
 
Gard received the coaching distinction from the NABC for the second straight year and fourth time in his career (2018, 2020). He guided the Pioneers to both the WIAC regular season and conference tournament titles for the second consecutive season and finished with a 26-3 overall record, including a 13-1 mark in WIAC play. UW-Platteville advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in the past eight seasons.
