Three Claim NCAA Women’s Volleyball Invitations

INDIANAPOLIS
--Three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams have claimed invitations to the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship.
 
University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh secured an automatic bid by winning the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver’s), while UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater claimed two of the 21 at-large spots in the 64-team field. It is the sixth straight year that at least three WIAC teams have collected NCAA bids.
 
UW-Oshkosh (28-3) will host regional action and face Greenville University (Ill.) (24-10) in the first round. The Titans are making their 21st NCAA appearance and fourth straight. The regional will also include: Edgewood University (Wis.) (25-6), Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) (23-7), Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) (22-8), College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) (21-6), University of Dubuque (Iowa) (25-4) and Cornell College (Iowa) (19-10).
 
UW-Eau Claire (27-4) will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., and open against St. Mary’s College of Maryland (17-14). This will mark the 22nd NCAA appearance for the Blugolds. The regional will include the host institution Carnegie Mellon University (25-8), Otterbein University (Ohio) (24-5), Wittenberg University (Ohio) (20-7), Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) (22-9), Hope College (Mich.) (22-6) and Southern Virginia University (23-8).
 
UW-Whitewater (25-7) will travel to Bloomington, Ill., and square off against Coe College (Iowa) (21-9) in the first round. The Warhawks own 36 NCAA appearances, including seven consecutive, and finished as the national runner-up a year ago. The regional will include the host institution Illinois Wesleyan University (26-2), Asbury University (Ky.) (22-7), University of Northwestern-St. Paul (Minn.) (23-7), St. Olaf College (Minn.) (26-8), Calvin University (Mich.) (25-3) and Hanover College (Ind.) (21-10).

Regional action will be held Nov. 20-22, with the eight regional winners advancing to the quarterfinals, semifinals and national championship Dec. 3-4 and 6 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill.
