General 9/23/2022 8:55:13 AM Parrott Begins As UW-Stout’s Director of Athletic Communications **Release courtesy of UW-Stout Sports Information MENOMONIE, Wis.--Casey Parrott has joined the UW-Stout athletics staff as the director of athletic communications where he will oversee all facets of communications and media relations for the Blue Devils' 19 sports teams. Parrott, who began Sept. 16, will succeed longtime sports information director Layne Pitt, who will retire in mid-October after 28 years as the sports information director and 30 years with the university. Prior to coming to UW-Stout, Parrot was the director of athletic communications at NCAA Division I University of Idaho for a year and was the primary contact for football, women's basketball, cross country and track & field. "We are excited to have Casey here to carry on the work our sports information team has been doing," athletic director Duey Naatz said. "Casey comes to Stout with a wealth of experience in the athletic communications field." Parrott spent five years at the University of Montana Western as the sports information director and athletic facilities coordinator. He was the primary contact for all 12 varsity sports. His duties included all athletic communications, social media, overseeing the department website, live video streaming, statistics and game day management. Montana Western saw significant increase on all social media platforms during Parrott's tenure. He has worked three NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournaments. An active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Parrott has earned six top-10 finishes in the NAIA-SIDA publications contest. In 2021, he was named the Frontier Conference Sports information Director of the Year for the third consecutive year. Parrott graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in biology. "I'm excited to move back to the Midwest and join the Stout family" Parrott said. "Layne has done such a great job building the sports information department here and I'm excited to build on what he has done and promote UW-Stout student-athletes. An avid runner, Parrott has finished five ultra-marathons, five marathons, 16 half-marathons and serves as co-race director of the Beaverhead Marathon and was the co-founder of Montana Running Company. Parrott is originally from Duluth, Minn., and plans to reside in the Menomonie area along with his wife Hannah and two daughters Kylie (7) and Lorelai (6). # # # # #
