Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week - Feb. 9

MADISON, Wis.--Following are the WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 2 - 8.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Dustin Derousseau, Senior (Tomah, Wis./Tomah), Guard of UW-La Crosse
Derousseau averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 steals, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds in two victories over teams receiving votes on the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. He finished with 18 points, three assists and three steals in a 68-65 win at UW-Whitewater on Feb. 4, hitting the game-winning three-pointer with :01 left. Derousseau then had 21 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists in a 92-67 victory over UW-Platteville on Feb. 7. He scored 14 points in the second half. Derousseau shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the field in the two games.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Ella Mackiewicz, Senior (Shawnee, Kan./Shawnee Mission Northwest), Guard of UW-Platteville
Mackiewicz led the Pioneers to a pair of top 25 wins during the week, including a 47-43 road win over previously undefeated UW-Oshkosh on Feb. 4. She scored 14 points against the Titans, while grabbing six rebounds and blocking a pair of shots. Mackiewicz then had a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double in a 65-55 win over UW-La Crosse on Feb. 7. She shot 8-of-12 from the floor in the win, while adding four assists, a blocked shot, and one steal.

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS
Specialist
Evalyn Resnick, Junior (Denver, Colo./Denver South), of Simpson College
Resnick delivered a historic performance at the Southeast Missouri State Quadrangular on Feb. 6, breaking Simpson's uneven bars record with a 9.800 and helping the Storm post an all-time high team score of 190.625. Her routine capped a program-record 47.300 on uneven bars and tied for second place overall.

Kaelyn Tally, Senior (Grants Pass, Ore./Rogue CC), of Simpson College
At the Southeast Missouri State Quadrangular on Feb. 6, Tally tied for second place on vault with a 9.725 and led Simpson on the floor exercise with a 9.775. Her performances helped propel the Storm to a program-best team score of 190.625 and a school record floor exercise total (48.625).

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY
Sebastian Monaco, Freshman (Caledon, Ontario), Goalie of UW-Stout
Monaco made 58 saves with a .967 saves percentage to lead the Blue Devils to a weekend and season sweep over UW-Superior. The first season sweep over UW-Superior since the 2000-01 season and first three-game sweep of the Yellowjackets in school history. Monaco made 24 saves in a 4-2 win on Feb. 6, and then posted a 34-save shutout on Feb. 7, to keep UW-Stout in contention for the WIAC regular-season title.

WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY
MaKenna Aure, Senior (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria), Defender of UW-River Falls
Aure led the charge in a comeback effort by the No. 1-ranked Falcons against No. 9-rankedUW-Eau Claire on Feb. 7. Down 3-0 in the second period, UW-River Falls scored five unanswered goals to take down the Blugolds 5-3, handing them their first WIAC loss of the season. Aure scored two goals in a row, including a power play goal, and assisting on the eventual game-winner. She’s the top-scoring defender in the WIAC this season with 27 points.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Offense
Mai Nou Vang, Senior (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Preble), Midfielder of UW-Stout
Vang scored three goals and added three assists for six points in UW-Stout's season-opening game against Calvin College (Mich.) in Eau Claire on Feb. 7. She assisted on three straight goals all within a 1:40 span in the 3rd quarter. Later in the third, Vang scored three goals as the Blue Devils rallied to cut the deficit. She had seven shots, five on goal (SOG% .714) while adding five draw controls and two ground balls.

Swimming
Charlie Mason, Sophomore (Algonquin, Ill./Algonquin Jacobs), of UW-Oshkosh
Mason won two individual events and was a member of a second-place relay team as the Titans hosted the Milwaukee School of Engineering at Albee Hall & Pool on Feb. 7. He placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.54) and 200-yard individual medley (2:04.05), while swimming first on UW-Oshkosh’s 200-yard freestyle squad (1:33.34).

Diving
Jacob Gordon, Sophomore (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway West), of UW-Oshkosh
Gordon grabbed a pair of top-two finishes on the diving board during the Titans’ regular-season finale against the Milwaukee School of Engineering at Albee Hall & Pool on Feb. 7. He won the one-meter diving with a score of 263.55 points and placed second in the three-meter edition at 245.45. Both scores were six-dive personal bests.

Faith Oswald, Sophomore (Eau Claire, Wis.), of UW-Eau Claire
Oswald swam lifetime bests in the 50-yard freestyle (24.30 seconds), 100-yard backstroke (1:00.08), 100-yard butterfly (58.47 seconds), and 100-yard freestyle (54.01 seconds) at the University of Minnesota First Chance Meet. She was also a member of the first-place 400-yard medley relay and second-place 400-yard freestyle relay teams.

MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Track
Tyler Heiman, Sophomore (Sussex, Wis./Hartland Arrowhead), of UW-La Crosse
Competing in his first 800-meter race of the season, Heiman ran a WIAC best time of 1:52.42 (1:50.84 banked track time) to win the event at the UW-La Crosse Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational on Feb. 7. Heiman’s time ranks second on the NCAA Division III Honor Roll and is the fifth-fastest time in UW-La Crosse history.

Gage Stankiewicz, Senior (Esko, Minn./Esko), of UW-Eau Claire
Stankiewicz won both shot and weight throw at the UW-La Crosse Mark Guthrie Invitational on Feb. 7. His shot put mark of 60-5 (18.41m) earned him first overall out of 28 competitors and sits as the top distance in the WIAC and second longest throw of all Division III this season. During the weight throw, Stankiewicz captured another first-place finish with his throw of 61-7 3/4 (18.79m) that ranks fourth in the WIAC and 10th in Division III.

The relay squad won the 4x400-meter relay (3:50.26) at the UW-La Crosse Mark Guthrie Invitational on Feb. 7. The Eagles set a facility and meet record, breaking the Hetzel Fieldhouse record of 3:50.95 set by Winona State University (Minn.) in 2023, and the meet record of 3:52.90 set by UW-La Crosse in 2025. The time converted to 3:47.37 on a banked track ranks second on the NCAA Division III Honor Roll and first in the WIAC.

Habberstad won the pole vault (13-2 1/2) at the UW-La Crosse Mark Guthrie Invitational on Feb. 7. She broke her own school record (13-2 1/4) set Jan. 31. Habberstad also set a meet record at the Guthrie Invitational, breaking the previous mark of 12-8 set by UW-Milwaukee's Kate Watson in 2023. Her height of 13-2 1/2 ranks third on the NCAA Division III Honor Roll and second in the WIAC.

Hinchcliffe earned a pair of victories on Feb. 7. He opened with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jack Saunders of Cornell College (Iowa) at No. 3 singles and then earned a 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory over Ivan Burt-Smith of Coe College (Iowa) at No. 5 singles.

Moeller and Jonnson went 2-1 as a pair in the Warhawks’ three dual matches during the week. On Feb. 6, Moeller and Jonnson defeated the No. 3 doubles squad of Wheaton College (Ill.), 6-1, and Luther College (Iowa) 7-5. Their lone loss was to Grinnell College (Iowa) 6(6)-7 on Feb. 8.

Simes earned a win by decision (4-2) over No. 13-ranked Carson Trotzer of UW-Stevens Point in UW-La Crosse's dual victory on Feb. 6. Simes lost to Trotzer in the title match at the Pete Willson Wheaton College (Ill.) Invitational on Jan. 31.
