UW-La Crosse Captures 30th Straight Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Crown

RIVER FALLS, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won its 30th straight title at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship at David A. Smith Stadium at Ramer Field on May 8.
 
The Eagles won five individual championships and one relay crown during the two-day event to compile 185 points enroute to the 56th WIAC title in program archives. UW-Whitewater placed second with 130 points, while UW-Oshkosh was third with 122.50, UW-Eau Claire fourth with 110.50, UW-Stout fifth with 106.50, UW-Stevens Point sixth with 98.50, UW-Platteville seventh with 50; and UW-River Falls eighth with 15.
 
UW-La Crosse’s Troy DeBruin received the Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete Award.
 
The Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school. Named to the squad were: UW-Eau Claire’s Jordan Lacey; UW-La Crosse’s Troy DeBruin; UW-Oshkosh’s Robert Ogbuli; UW-Platteville’s Jacob Rice; UW-River Falls’ Cody Hawkins; UW-Stevens Point’s Sam Welch; UW-Stout’s Cody Lohrenz; and UW-Whitewater’s Ty Jahnke.
