Men's Outdoor Track and Field 5/1/2026 11:14:26 PM UW-La Crosse Owns Lead At Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship OSHKOSH, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse owns the lead following the first day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex on May 1. UW-La Crosse, the three-time defending champion, has accumulated 92 points through the first six events. UW-Oshkosh is second with 46 points, UW-Platteville and UW-Stevens Point are tied with 24, UW-Eau Claire fifth with 18, UW-Whitewater sixth with 17, UW-Stout seventh with 12 and UW-River Falls eighth with one. UW-La Crosse won an individual event during the opening day of action. Joey Sullivan was victorious in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:41.53. UW-Oshkosh claimed three individual titles as Joshua Rivers secured the long jump for the third consecutive year with a leap of 26-0 3/4 (7.94m). He is the first individual in conference history to win the event three straight years. UW-Oshkosh’s Gavin Fritsch posted a first-place finish for the second straight year in the hammer throw with a toss of 196-7 (59.93m), while Collin Kao was triumphant in the pole vault with a height of 17-0 3/4 (5.20m). UW-Platteville’s Max Schneider won the javelin with a distance of 184-7 (56.27m), while UW-Stevens Point’s Mateo Alvarado Venegas claimed the 10,000-meter run in 29:51.09. Competition at the two-day championship will continue at 11:00 a.m. on May 2.
