Name: Cody Chadwick Institution: UW-Oshkosh Hometown (High School): Poynette, Wis. (Poynette High School) Year in school: Junior Sport: Men’s Cross Country Majors: Accounting & Finance Why did you choose UW-Oshkosh? UW-Oshkosh provides one of the best business programs in the state, while also having a highly successful history of producing some great cross country and track & field athletes. What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved in? On campus, I work for the Residence Life Department. I help students in the dorms with move-in, answer any questions they may have throughout the year and handle other issues that may arise. Additionally, the entire UW-Oshkosh athletics program does a great job of being involved with volunteering throughout the community. What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete? The WIAC is arguably the most competitive conference in the entire nation of Division III athletics. As a Division III athlete in this conference, I am given the opportunity to test my fitness against some of the best runners in the country on a weekly basis, while also being provided an avenue to volunteer and be involved in the community of which I compete for. Qualifying for nationals in cross country last year was easily my most validating achievement to date. It was especially cool last year because UW-Oshkosh hosted the national meet and I was able to run on my home course during the biggest meet of the year. What is your favorite thing to do off the court/field with your teammates? We have a basketball game called “tip” that we play pretty much every day before practice. I love it because it really shows the athleticism we possess on the cross country team. If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be? Allow any jersey/uniform to be worn by any individual. The bibs are already electronically chipped to the correct team. If you need to see jerseys to motivate you to run harder, then you are already running the race incorrectly. The best thing about your hometown is? Our high school cross country program is coached by UW-Oshkosh alumnus Kevin Frehner. What is your dream job? Being a NBA player. Three things on your "bucket list"? ---Win the lottery. ---Lose all the money. ---Win it all back and invest it intelligently. Do you have any pre-game/pre-event rituals? If so, what are they? Listening to a specific set of songs with Justin Skinkis and Fabian Salinas. What is your biggest “pet-peeve”? Slow walkers on campus are the absolute worst. What is your greatest fear? Being buried alive. # # # # #
