Men's Cross Country 12/3/2025 12:57:51 PM UW-La Crosse Sweeps Men’s Cross Country Awards MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Grant Matthai has been named the 2025 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year, while UW-La Crosse was selected the Coaching Staff of the Year, based on voting by the conference coaches. Matthai is the third runner in program history to receive the distinction, joining Josh Schraeder (2019) and Ethan Gregg (2023). Matthai finished fifth at the NCAA Division III championship to earn All-America honors and was runner-up at the NCAA Division III North Regional to claim All-Region status. He secured the individual title at the WIAC championship for the second straight year with a championship record time of 23:24.5. Matthai is the first-back-to-back winner of the conference title since 2015-16. He finished second at the Augustana College (Ill.) Invitational and 10th at the St. Olaf College (Minn.) Invitational. UW-La Crosse won the fifth NCAA Division III title in program history, the WIAC championship for the eighth consecutive year, as well as the NCAA Division III North Regional.
