UW-La Crosse’s Hehli Named ITA/Dunlop NCAA Division III Women’s Coach of the Year

TEMPE, Ariz.
--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Head Tennis Coach Bill Hehli has been named the 2025-26 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)/Dunlop NCAA Division III Women's Coach of the Year, the ITA announced Wednesday (May 27).
 
He was selected the ITA/Dunlop Central Region Women's Coach of the Year on May 13.
 
Completing his 31st season as head coach, Hehli led the women's team to a 21-3 overall and 6-0 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The Eagles tied a school record for victories, matching the total from 2010-11 and 2011-12 when UW-La Crosse finished 21-5.
 
UW-La Crosse earned an automatic bid to the 2025-26 NCAA Division III Championships with a 4-3 victory over UW-Whitewater in the title match of the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver’s) on April 25.
 
The Eagles, 29th in the ITA rankings on May 13, made their third (2001, 2007, 2026) appearance in the national tournament this year, earning a 4-0 first round victory over UW-Superior on May 8 before a 4-0 loss at No. 16-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on May 9.
 
Finishing 6-0 in WIAC duals this year, UWL claimed its 16th league title in school history and first since 2006. The Eagles finished undefeated in conference duals for the third time in school history (2005, 2006, 2025).
 
Hehli was voted the 2025 WIAC Coach of the Year for the seventh time in his career (2000, 2005, 2012, 2017, 2020, 2024, 2025).
 
UWL finished 7-0 at home in 2025-26.
 
Inducted into the UW-La Crosse Wall of Fame in 2017, Hehli is 477-148 (.763) as the women's head coach. The all-time leader in wins in WIAC history, he has led UW-La Crosse to four (2003, 2005, 2006, 2025) conference titles.
