Women's Indoor Track and Field 3/14/2026 7:36:49 PM Two Teams In Top Nine At NCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship; Two Claim Individual Titles BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--Two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams finished in the top nine following two days of competition at the NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Birmingham Crossplex on March 14. In addition, a pair of individuals from the WIAC claimed titles. UW-La Crosse compiled 38 points to finish fourth, while UW-Platteville tied for ninth with 20 points. Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) claimed its second national championship with 54 points. Williams College (Mass.) placed second with 44 points, Centre College (Ky.) third with 43, and Johns Hopkins University (Md.) fifth with 31. Additional WIAC team finishes included: UW-Stout placed 13th with 15.5 points; UW-Eau Claire 24th with nine; and UW-Oshkosh tied for 25th with eight. A total of 61 teams earned points at the national meet that was hosted by the Southern Athletic Association and Birmingham CrossPlex. UW-Platteville’s Isabel Peterson claimed the 200-meter dash with a meet record time of 23.78 seconds. The time also established an NCAA Division III record. Peterson is UW-Platteville’s first national champion since 2016. UW-Stout’s Leah Zastrow won the pole vault with a height of 13-7 1/4 (4.15m). She is the second individual national champion in program history, joining Laura Verdegan (2004-long jump). The following individuals from the WIAC earned All-America recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Athletes that finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and as part of a relay team earned First Team All-America honors.
