Student-Athlete Spotlight: Madison Lavergne, UW-River Falls

Why did you choose UW-River Falls?
Because of the hockey team and the small-town atmosphere with a great community.

What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?
I love the balance between school and hockey. I can enjoy competing in my sport while excelling in school.

Flavor of the Day from Culver’s?  Vanilla with peanut butter sauce and hot fudge, plus cookie dough mixed in
Non-Athletic Spot on Campus?  The UC (University Center) because it’s a good place to be around others and do homework

What is your greatest sports moment? 
Scoring the game-winning goal to go to the Frozen Four in 2024 and then going on to win the first ever national championship in UW-River Falls history on our home ice.
 
What is your favorite thing to do off the court/field with your teammates?
I like to hang out and watch movies in our living room or go explore different coffee shops.
 
Who is someone that you look up to?
I look up to my dad because he can learn how to do anything and is very determined.
 
Do you have any words of advice for younger/upcoming student-athletes?
Take in every moment because college goes by 10x faster than high school and you can make friends that will last a lifetime.
 
One word that describes you?
Passionate
 
What is your dream job? 
A physical therapist who works wherever she wants
 
Three things on your "bucket list"?
---Travel to Europe

A non-athletic talent that you have is?
I can draw pretty well and I’m really good with animals

What’s your dream sporting event to attend?
The Super Bowl when the Vikings are playing
 
Do you have any pre-game/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If so, what are they?
I am not that superstitious, but I like to get a Subway or Erbert and Gerbert’s sandwich, go to the rink early, and then play volleyball and soccer with my teammates.
