Men's Swimming and Diving 2/21/2026 11:18:54 PM UW-La Crosse Wins Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship BROWN DEER, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship (presented by Culver’s) following four days of competition at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 21. UW-La Crosse accumulated 891 points to claim the fifth title in program history – and first since 1971. UW-Eau Claire finished second with 781 points, UW-Stevens Point third with 677, UW-Whitewater fourth with 488 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 288. UW-La Crosse won two individual titles and one relay crown during day four of the championship. Jacob Ketterling placed first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:51.25, while Preston Nygaard was victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:58.85. Ketterling and Nygaard were members of the triumphant 400-yard freestyle relay team with Tyler Hartman and Jesse Hammes. The quartet had a time of 3:01.58. Nygaard received Newcomer of the Year honors. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used his first season of participation in men's swimming & diving this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in men’s swimming & diving at their previous institution. UW-Eau Claire’s Derek Stadheim won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:00.17, while Drew Testin claimed the 100-yard freestyle in 45.80 seconds and Emmett Botten finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.49. Ketterling and Stadheim shared Swimmer of the Meet honors. UW-Stevens Point’s Declan Trant was named the Diver of the Meet, while UW-La Crosse head coach Steve Mohs was tabbed the Coach of the Year.
