UW-Eau Claire Maintains Advantage At Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship

BROWN DEER, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is in first place following the second day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship (presented by Culver’s) at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 19.
 
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the two-time defending champion, has 286 points through seven events, while UW-La Crosse is second with 276 points. The Eagles are followed by UW-Stevens Point in third with 247 points, UW-Whitewater fourth with 169 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 128.
 
UW-Eau Claire won one event on day two as Derek Stadheim claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 4:32.35.
 
UW-La Crosse emerged with two individual titles and one relay crown. Cody Zander, Preston Nygaard, Jacob Ketterling and Tyler Hartmann teamed for a conference championship record time of 3:17.62 in the 400-yard medley relay. Ketterling also won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:49.06, while posted a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in 20.70 seconds.
 
The championship continues on Feb. 20, with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m., and the finals at 6:30 p.m.
