Men's Outdoor Track and Field 5/24/2025 7:16:13 PM UW-La Crosse Wins Second Straight NCAA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship GENEVA, Ohio--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won its second straight NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship following three days of competition at the SPIRE Institute on May 24, while the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) secured six individual titles and one relay crown. UW-La Crosse’s national title is the 17th in program history and 20th won by a WIAC program. Since the 1982-83 academic year, WIAC institutions have combined to win 131 NCAA Division III team championships. The Eagles won this year’s championship with 84 points, while UW-Eau Claire was second with 56, Rowan University (N.J.) third with 44.50, Saint John’s University (Minn.) fourth with 39.50 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 39. Additional WIAC team finishes included: UW-Platteville tied for 18th with 11; UW-River Falls 36th with seven, UW-Whitewater tied for 50th with four, and UW-Stout tied for 73rd with one. A total of 78 teams accumulated points at the national meet. UW-La Crosse’s championship effort was led by Sam Blaskowski, who won the 100- and 200-meter dash titles with times of 10.14 seconds and 20.35 seconds, respectively. He is one of two individuals in NCAA Division III history to claim four consecutive 100-meter dash championships. Blaskowski’s first-place finish in the 100-meter dash was his second straight. UW-La Crosse’s Joey Sullivan claimed the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:50.51, while the Eagles’ 4x100-meter relay team of Ryder Smith, Evan Maurud, Lyndon Hemmrich-Hartman and Blaskowsi had championship record time of 39.66 enroute to a first-place finish. UW-Eau Claire’s Yakob Ekoue won the discus for the second straight year with a toss of 190-10 (58.17m), while Adam Strouf was victorious in the shot put with a heave of 60-8 1/2 (18.50m). UW-Oshkosh’s Joshua Rivers was victorious in the long jump for a second consecutive year with a leap of 24-9 3/4 (7.56m). The Titans' Charlie Nolan claimed the decathlon with 7,118 points. The following individuals from the WIAC earned All-America recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Athletes that finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and as part of a relay team earned First Team All-America honors.
