Men's Outdoor Track and Field 5/11/2026 12:59:22 PM Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Honors Announced MADISON, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its award winners for the 2026 men’s outdoor track & field season based on voting by the conference coaches. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Luke Schroeder received Track Performer of the Meet honors from the WIAC Championship (presented by Culver’s), while UW-Oshkosh’s Gavin Fritsch was tabbed the Field Performer of the Meet. UW-La Crosse’s Landon Gallun was named the Newcomer of the Year and UW-La Crosse claimed Coaching Staff of the Year honors. Schroeder won the 110-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash with times of 13.32 seconds and 21.13 seconds, respectively. His time in the 110-meter hurdles established a NCAA Division III record, conference championship record and facility record. Schroeder added second-place finishes in the 100-meter dash and javelin. Fritsch won the hammer throw with a fling of 196-7 (59.93m), while placing fourth in discus. Gallun finished fifth at the WIAC championship in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.47 seconds and seventh in the 200-meter dash in 22.14 seconds. He was a member of the second-place 4x100-meter relay team. UW-La Crosse’s coaching staff led the squad to its fourth consecutive WIAC title and 60th in program history. The coaching staff includes: head coach Josh Buchholtz; assistant coaches Doug Geiwtz (pole vault), Matt Gordy (sprints), Mark Guthrie (400-meter dash/400-meter hurdles), Nick Kohl (jumps), Tommy Knoche (pole vault), Jim Nelson (throws), Derek Stanley (distance) and Jakob Tordsen (multis); consultant Phil Esten; athletic trainers Dr. Brea Stanton and Kelsey Galles; and sports performance director Phil Whitesitt. # # # # #
