MADISON, Wis.
--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its softball awards for the 2025 season, based on voting by the conference coaches.

University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Melissa Dietz was selected the Kwik Trip Position Player of the Year, while UW-Oshkosh’s Brianna Bougie received Kwik Trip Pitcher of the Year honors and UW-River Falls’ Caitlyn Kressel claimed Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year distinction. UW-Oshkosh and UW-Platteville shared Kwik Trip Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Dietz – the only player in program history to secure the award – also received the honor in 2023, when she added Newcomer of the Year accolades. She leads the conference with a .526 batting average, .897 slugging percentage, .590 on-base percentage, and 1.487 OPS, while ranking second with 61 hits, 44 RBI, and 21 doubles, and tied for second with seven home runs. Dietz recorded at least one hit in 32-of-36 games, including 19 multi-hit performances. She tied a career high with four hits against UW-Whitewater on April 22, and had a career-best five RBI against Mount Mary University (Wis.) on Feb. 21.

Bougie is the fourth Titan to claim the distinction, joining Ronessa Stampfli (2004-08), Sara Brunlieb (2015) and Maddie Fink (2021). She tops the WIAC with a 0.60 earned run average and .157 opponent batting average, while tying for second with seven saves and ranking seventh with 10 wins. Bougie has made 23 appearances and recorded a season-high seven strikeouts on three occasions. She pitched all 12 innings against UW-Stevens Point on April 23 – throwing 169 pitches.

Kressel is the second Falcon to receive the award, joining Johanna Breyen in 2021. She ranks third in the conference with 20 doubles, eighth with a .592 slugging percentage, tied for 12th with a .979 OPS, and tied for 13th with 46 hits. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in softball this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in softball at their previous institution.

Repeat selections on the first team included: UW-Eau Claire’s Molly Marquardt and Kenna Strunsee; UW-La Crosse’s Brooke Howard and Kyra Lard (Position Player of the Year); UW-Oshkosh’s Abby Garceau; UW-Stevens Point’s Morgan Harwood (Pitcher of the Year & Newcomer of the Year); and UW-Whitewater’s Kiarra Kostroski and Grace Wickman. Lard and Kostroski were first team selections in 2023, along with UW-River Falls’ Kelly Aultman, while Lard (Newcomer of the Year) and Garceau secured first team recognition in 2022.

UW-Oshkosh’s coaching staff has led the squad to a 36-6 record, the WIAC Tournament title and an NCAA postseason bid. The coaching staff includes: head coach Scott Beyer; assistant coaches Kaitlyn Krol and Hannah Ritter; and athletic trainer Jack Johnsen.

UW-Platteville’s coaching staff directed the squad to a 26-15 record. The 26 wins are the most since the 1992 campaign when the Pioneers accumulated 29 victories. UW-Platteville tied for third in the conference standings and reached the championship game of the WIAC Tournament. The coaching staff includes: head coach Becca Runde; and assistant coaches Riley Kelsch and Robert Lowe (pitching and catching).

An All-Sportsmanship Team was named for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each team as selected by that team.
