Wrestling 3/2/2025 10:46:03 AM Seven Win NCAA Wrestling Regional Crowns MADISON, Wis.--Seven Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) wrestlers claimed titles and are among the 18 conference individuals that earned a spot in the national meet following NCAA Division III Regional action in Feb. 28-March 1. The top-three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes from the regional advance to the NCAA Division III Championship that will be held March 14-15 at Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, R.I. University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville and UW-Stevens Point competed at the Region VII Regional in Minneapolis, Minn. UW-La Crosse emerged with the team title after accumulating 192.50 points, while UW-Eau Claire took third with 144.50 points, UW-Stevens Point seventh with 73, UW-Platteville 11th with 42.50, and UW-Oshkosh 14th with 17.50. A total of 16 teams participated in the event. UW-Whitewater competed at the Region V Regional in Crawfordsville, Ind., and placed second out of 17 teams with 142.50 points. UW-La Crosse had four individuals secure titles during the two-day event. Quintin Wolbert pinned Thomas Turner of Pacific University (Ore.) in 2:21 to win the 125-pound championship, while Tanner Gerber posted a 6-4 decision over Cooper Willis of Augsburg University (Minn.) at 165 pounds. Ben Kawczynski claimed the 197-pound title with a 4-1 decision over Parker Venz of Augsburg, and Michael Douglas had a 16-4 major decision over Josh Woodrey of Augustana College (Ill.) to win the 285-pound crown. UW-Eau Claire’s Jared Stricker posted a 9-3 decision over Seth Goetzinger of Augsburg to finish with the 174-pound championship. UW-Whitewater’s Dominik Mallinder won the 133-pound title with a 17-4 major decision over Coby Haney of Millikin University (Ill.), while Brayden Peet had a 7-2 decision over Alex Villar of North Central College (Ill.) to secure the 165-pound crown.
