Four Teams In Top 14 At NCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship; UW-La Crosse’s Jarrett Wins Two Titles

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--Four teams from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) placed in the top 14 following two days of competition at the NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Golisano Training Center on March 15. In addition, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Lauren Jarrett claimed a pair of individual titles.
 
UW-La Crosse finished third with 37 points. Massachusetts Institute of Technology won its first-ever national championship with 49 points, Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) was second with 45.5 points, Loras College (Iowa) fourth with 32 and State University of New York Geneseo fifth with 29.
 
Additional WIAC team finishes included: UW-Stout 12th with 15.5 points; UW-Oshkosh 13th with 15; UW-Eau Claire 14th with 13; UW-Platteville tied for 29th with eight; and UW-Whitewater 56th with 2.5. A total of 66 teams accumulated points at the national meet that was hosted by Nazareth University (N.Y.) and Rochester NY Sports Commission. 
 
UW-La Crosse’s Lauren Jarrett was victorious in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 7.31 seconds and 23.94 seconds, respectively. She tied her NCAA Division III record in the prelims of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.29 seconds. It marked the second straight year that she won the 60-meter dash.
 
The following individuals from the WIAC earned All-America recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Athletes that finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and as part of a relay team earned First Team All-America honors. Those who finished ninth through 16th individually and ninth through 12th as part of a relay team were named All-America Second Team.
