Women's Swimming and Diving 2/22/2025 11:45:13 PM UW-La Crosse Claims Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship BROWN DEER, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship (presented by Culver’s) at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 22. It is the conference-best 22nd title in program history for the Eagles, who accumulated 1,018 points during the four-day championship. The 1,018 points are the highest total at the championship since 2005. Two-time defending champion UW-Eau Claire placed second with 855 points, UW-Stevens Point third with 520, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 406 and UW-Whitewater fifth with 332. Jordy Hahlen helped UW-La Crosse to the team title on the fourth day of events with a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.48. UW-Eau Claire’s Elaina Plonis was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly for the third consecutive season with a time of 2:05.82, while Molly Hosack claimed her second straight title in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:18.08. Kiara Bissen secured the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.98, and contributed to the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay that posted a time of 3:30.84. She was joined on the relay by Sydney McGuine, Molly Hosack and Grace Schnabl. UW-Oshkosh’s Francesca Schiro won the 100-yard freestyle for the second straight year with a time of 51.04 seconds. She was tabbed the Kwik Trip Swimmer of the Meet for the second consecutive season. UW-La Crosse’s Joanne Banaszak received Kwik Trip Diver of the Meet honors, while UW-La Crosse’s Zoey Rank was selected the Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women's swimming & diving this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in women’s swimming & diving at their previous institution. UW-La Crosse's Steve Mohs was tabbed the Kwik Trip Coach of the Year.
