UW-La Crosse Leads Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship

BROWN DEER, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse leads following the first day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship (presented by Culver’s) at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 19.
 
The Eagles have compiled 165 points through the first three events. UW-Eau Claire, the two-time defending champion, is second with 95 points, UW-Stevens Point is third with 82 points, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 81 and UW-Whitewater fifth with 60.
 
UW-La Crosse’s Joanne Banaszak won the three-meter diving competition for the second straight year with 458.70 points. The Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay team of Jordy Hahlen, Zoey Rank, Natalie Austin and Libby Cleveland posted a first-place time of 1:43.60.
 
UW-Eau Claire’s Kiara Bissen, Grace Schnabl, Emma Vogen and Molly Hosack combined for a time of 7:36.96 to win the 800-yard freestyle relay.
 
Competition resumes on Feb. 20, with the prelims at 10:00 a.m. and the finals at 6:30 p.m.
