Student-Athlete Spotlight: Andrew Schad, UW-Oshkosh

Each week during the 2024-25 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a “Student-Athlete Spotlight” Q & A segment. Why did you choose UW-Oshkosh?
I chose UW-Oshkosh because I had friends on the wrestling team already when I was a freshman. I also picked UW-Oshkosh because of the business department and UWO is close to home.

What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?
Our conference is the toughest in the nation for wrestling and other sports. Competing in this conference pushes me to get better every day.

Qualifying for state every year in high school and losing my first match and then winning four straight matches on the backside of the Pointer Open.

Grill out at one of our houses.

My dad.
 
Do you have any words of advice for younger/upcoming student-athletes?
Strive to be great every day. You will not be able to compete the rest of your life, so treat every day like it is your last day. Be grateful and thankful for the ability to do what you do, you never know when it could be your last day.
 
One word that describes you?
Resilient.
 
What is your dream job? 
Management position in either manufacturing or construction.
 
Three things on your "bucket list"?
---Go to Mexico.

---Skydive.
 
A non-athletic talent that you have is?
Any kind of fishing/hunting.
