Wrestling 3/27/2026 11:56:18 AM WIAC Men’s Wrestling Awards Announced MADISON, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its men’s wrestling award winners for the 2026 season. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Tanner Gerber was selected the Wrestler of the Year, while UW-Eau Claire’s Wyatt Unser and UW-La Crosse’s Markos Mihalopoulos shared Newcomer of the Year honors. Gerber became the first NCAA champion in program history at 165 pounds and won the 165-pound title at the WIAC championship for the second consecutive year. He also was the runner-up at 165 pounds at the NCAA Division III Region VII Regional. Gerber finished the season with a 34-3 record and six pins. Unser secured All-America honors with a seventh-place finish at 133 pounds at the national championship. He won the 133-pound title at the WIAC championship to help UW-Eau Claire claim the team crown and took third at the NCAA Division III Region VII Regional. Unser finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 30-12 record. Mihalopoulos finished sixth at 285 pounds at the NCAA Division III championship to claim All-America status. He placed third at the Region VII Regional and finished the season with a 23-11 mark and three pins. # # # # #
