Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week - Nov. 12

MADISON, Wis.--Following are the WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 4 - 10.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Logan Pearson, Senior (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly), Forward of UW-Platteville
Pearson averaged 28.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as the Pioneers split a pair of games to begin the season, beating No. 9-ranked Calvin University (Mich.), 82-81, on Nov. 8, before falling, 86-66, to No. 16-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University on Nov. 9. He put together a dominant second half against Calvin, scoring all 35 of his points and knocking down the game winner as the buzzer sounded. Pearson finished 12-of-16 from the floor in that win, and he added 21 points in the loss to Illinois Wesleyan. Across the two games, Pearson shot 58.6 percent (17-of-29) and went 19-of-23 from the free throw line.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Lexi Wagner, Grad. Student (Galesville, Wis./Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau), Guard of UW-Stout
Wagner led the No.-15 ranked Blue Devils to a pair of wins to open the season. Against No. RV-Calvin University (Mich.), she scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting (4-of-6 3pt). Against The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.), Wagner scored a career-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting (6-of-10 3pt). For the week, she shot 64 percent (16-of-25) and 62.5 percent from 3-point range (10-of-16) and added six rebounds, four assists and seven steals. She was named MVP of the St. Norbert College (Wis.) Tournament.

FOOTBALL
Offense
Adam Moen, Junior (Lake Mills, Wis./Lake Mills), Quarterback of UW-Stout
Moen accounted for five of the Blue Devils six touchdowns, leading the Blue Devil offense with his arm and with his legs to a 45-42 win over No. 13-ranked UW-Oshkosh. He was 27-of-39 (69.2 percent), tying a career-high in completions for a career-high 352 yards and three touchdowns (the fifth time this season throwing for 3 or more TDs in a game). He rushed for a career-high 83 yards and two more scores.  Moen was clutch on UW-Stout's game- winning 13-play 74-yard drive, going 5-of-7 for 50 yards, and rushing five times for 15 yards to set up the game winning field goal.

Defense
Ryan Daines, Senior (Westby, Wis./Westby), Linebacker of UW-La Crosse
Daines had a game-high 11 tackles, including six solo, in UW-La Crosse's 24-21 win over UW-Whitewater on Nov. 9. He had 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 quarterback sack and one interception. In the second quarter, Daines sacked Jackson Chryst and on the following play, intercepted Chryst with returning the ball to UW-La Crosse's 42-yard line.

Cool was 6-of-6 on PAT's and made the walk-off 24-yard field goal as time expired to give UW-Stout the 45-42 victory over No. 13-ranked UW-Oshkosh. He also averaged 58.4 yards on his seven kickoffs.

Dawson Sciarrino, Senior (Greensburg, Pa.), Forward of UW-Stevens Point
Sciarrino had a pair of three-point nights as the Pointers swept a home weekend against MIAC foes. He scored a goal and two assists in a 5-2 win over Bethel University (Minn.) on Nov. 8. Sciarrino replicated the scoreline with a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory over Saint Mary’s University (Minn.) on Nov. 9.

Goodreau led the Falcons on the weekend, totaling five points with three goals and two assists against Augsburg University (Minn.) and The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.). During a 4-4 tie against the Auggies, Goodreau had a goal and an assist, and she followed up on Nov. 9, on the road at St. Scholastica with two goals and an assist.

MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
Swimming

Ian Olson, Senior (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi), of UW-Eau Claire
Competing in a loaded field at the University of Chicago’s D3 Shootout on Nov. 8-9, Olson set WIAC-leading times in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke. He placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.64 seconds and fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:06.52. The 10-team meet featured eight men’s squads ranked in the top 25 nationally.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
Swimming
Nikolina Gallo, Freshman (Greendale, Wis./Greendale), of UW-Whitewater
Gallo recorded two personal best times, while contributing to a win over UW-Oshkosh on Nov. 8. She added another event win the Warhawks' dual at UW-La Crosse on Nov. 9. Against the Titans, Gallo's winning time of 5:26.69 was the best in the 500-yard freestyle, while her fourth-place time of 2:02.86 in the 200-yard freestyle was also a lifetime best. Against the Eagles, Gallo won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:29.75.

Indiraraj won both diving events in a WIAC dual at UW-Whitewater and at the Lawrence University (Wis.) Gene Davis Invitational during the week. She scored a 205.28 in the one-meter and a 222.23 in the three-meter editions of the event in Whitewater on Nov. 8, before posting scores of 350.90 and 378.10 points in Appleton on Nov. 9.

Emma Carlson, Senior (Dixon, Ill./Dixon), Outside Hitter of UW-Platteville
Carlson finished with a team-high 17 kills in the Pioneers’ sweep over UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 8. She posted a .394 hitting percentage across her 33 attacks and averaged 5.67 kills per set. Carlson added 10 digs to record the double-double.

Stanwood made 17 digs and a pair of blocks as UW-Eau Claire swept UW-La Crosse on Nov. 8. She averaged 5.67 digs per set and finished with her third-best total of the season. Stanwood also contributed to the attack with nine kills.

WRESTLING
Evan Onstad, Sophomore (Grayslake, Ill./Warren Township), 141 pounds of UW-Whitewater
Onstad secured the 141-pound title to lead UW-Whitewater to a second-place finish in a 12-team field at the Roger Williams (R.I.) Invitational on Nov. 9. He was a perfect 5-0 at the tournament with two victories over ranked opponents. Onstad opened the day with a fall (2:47) over Noah Lim of Wesleyan University (Conn.) before registering a pair of decisions over Robert Rerras (Coast Guard) and his teammate Justin Fortugno. In the semifinal, Onstad defeated No. 13-ranked Hayden Myers (Wesleyan) by 12-11 decision. He secured the title with a thrilling 2-2 TB-2 win over No. 5-ranked James Rodriguez of Castleton University (Vt.).
