General 5/30/2023 11:58:10 AM All-Sports Award Winners Announced MADISON, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its All-Sports Award winners for the 2022-23 academic year. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the combined award and men’s award, while UW-Whitewater secured the women’s award. The combined award for UW-La Crosse is the fourth consecutive and 10th overall. The Eagles totaled 88 points and were followed by: UW-Whitewater (86.5); UW-Eau Claire (71.5); UW-Oshkosh (70); UW-Stevens Point (54); UW-Stout (48.5); UW-Platteville (39.5); and UW-River Falls (28). The men’s trophy is the 23rd overall and fourth straight. UW-La Crosse posted first-place finishes in cross country, football, wrestling, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field. The Eagles accumulated 36.5 points in the men’s standings and were trailed by: UW-Whitewater (31); UW-Oshkosh (28.5); UW-Eau Claire (23.5); UW-Stevens Point (21); UW-Platteville and UW-Stout (17.5); and UW-River Falls (11). UW-Whitewater’s women’s award is the third in school history and first since the 2013-14 academic year. The Warhawks won conference titles in golf, tennis, volleyball, basketball and softball. UW-Whitewater compiled 51 points in the women’s standings and was followed by: UW-La Crosse (45.5); UW-Eau Claire (43); UW-Oshkosh (38.5); UW-Stevens Point (30); UW-Stout (29.5); UW-Platteville (20); and UW-River Falls (16). The three All-Sports Awards are given annually by the conference. Points for the awards are given according to the final conference standings in each sport on an 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis, or 7-6-5, etc., depending on how many schools compete in each sport. Either (but not both) indoor or outdoor track & field are included in the calculations, and the awards are determined on the basis of the lowest number of sports offered by any WIAC institution in each category (combined - 13, women - 7, men - 5).
