Student-Athlete Spotlight: Jacqueline Kornowski, UW-Whitewater

Why did you choose UW-Whitewater?
I chose UW-Whitewater because the campus atmosphere made it feel like home and I could obtain my degree, while continuing to compete at the collegiate level.

What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?
When it comes to being a part of this conference and a NCAA Division III student-athlete, I love that I am given numerous opportunities to succeed, whether that be in the classroom, or on the track. No matter what challenges I face, I can always know that there will be someone there that can help me reach my goals.
 
What is your favorite…

What is your greatest sports moment? 
The greatest moment in my track career so far was being the starting leg of the 4x100m relay at outdoor conference in 2022. Just being a part of that relay at that very moment, meant so much to me.
 
What is your favorite thing to do off the court/field with your teammates?
Either team dinners or shopping trips.

What is your dream job? 
Genetic Counseling
 
Three things on your "bucket list"?
---See the ocean.
---Qualify for Nationals (individually AND as a team).
---Travel to Greece.
 
A non-athletic talent that you have is?
I make the best avocado toast that has ever been seen and eaten.

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If so, what are they?
Yes, I have pre-meet rituals. I always wear my hair in the same braided hairstyle, the same jewelry, and I start my pre-meet playlist 15-20 minutes before warmups.
