Student-Athlete Spotlight: Sam Rossetti, UW-Platteville

Each week during the 2022-23 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a “Student-Athlete Spotlight” Q & A segment. Why did you choose UW-Platteville?
I chose UW-Platteville because of the immediate connection I had with the volleyball team as well as how invested every person that I met was in making my visit beneficial.
 
What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved in?
I am the Vice President of Communications for PSAAC (Pioneer Student Athlete Advisory Committee) on campus.

What causes do you care about?
I care a lot about mental health especially mental health awareness in athletes.
 
What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?
My favorite thing about playing in the WIAC is that every team is so competitive, and no game played within the conference is predictable. I love playing NCAA DIII volleyball because it gives me the opportunity to play my sport with people who are equally as passionate as I am while also being able to peruse my academic career.

My greatest sports moment was beating Stevens-Point my freshman year.

My favorite thing to do off the court with my teammates is eat and chit chat.

Hungry (to succeed).

Persistent.

What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be a division I volleyball coach.
 
Three things on your "bucket list"?
---Visit Greece.
---Go hang gliding.

A non-athletic talent that you have is? 
One non-athletic talent I have is that I can juggle.

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If so, what are they?
Before games I always listen to the song “Unwritten” while I get my hair braided and I always have to give my teammates high fives in a specific order during the starting lineups.
