LOUISVILLE, Ky.
--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Alex Berger, an assistant coach for the Blugold volleyball team, has been named a 2025 AVCA Thirty Under 30 College Award recipient by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

The annual AVCA Thirty Under 30 Award honors young, rising stars in collegiate volleyball coaching. Berger is one of 30 coaches nationally to receive this recognition for 2025.

Berger, who is in her seventh season with the Blugolds, joined the UW-Eau Claire coaching staff in 2018 after two seasons as an assistant coach at Augsburg University (Minn.). She also has six years of club coaching experience with the Mizuno Northern Lights.

In her first season with the Blugolds in 2018, Berger helped the team achieve a 33-4 record and claim the WIAC tournament championship, followed by an appearance in the NCAA Division III Final Four. Since then, she has contributed to the team's success in several NCAA Tournaments, including appearances in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2024. Berger was also part of the coaching staff that led the Blugolds to their first NCAA Division III national championship in 2021.

Before her coaching career, Berger was a standout player at Northern Michigan University, where she was a two-time team captain and earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team honors. She was named team MVP in both her junior and senior season and still holds NMU records for digs per set in a single season and career, as well as total number of digs per season. Berger graduated from Northern Michigan University with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

Berger will be formally recognized at the 2025 AVCA Convention in Kansas City, Mo., this December.
