UW-Whitewater's Gnewech and UW-Eau Claire's Dahlk Named WIAC Kwik Trip Women's Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Gianna Gnewuch and UW-Eau Claire's Sarah Dahlk have been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Women's Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 11 - 17. 

Gnewuch (Fr., Madison, Wis./Verona) placed among the top two in a pair of events and helped UW-Whitewater win a relay in the Warhawks’ 94-92 victory against Illinois Tech at the Williams Center Pool on Oct. 16. She touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.95, almost four seconds ahead of the runner-up and less than two seconds off her personal record pace. Gnewuch also finished as runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.68. She led off the 200-yard medley relay with a career-best time of 28.85 in the 50-yard backstroke, allowing the group to win the event by 0.36 seconds.

In a 177.50-51.50 dual meet victory against UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 16, Dahlk (Sr., Verona, Wis./Middleton) won the one-meter and three-meter diving events with scores of 222.95 and 211.25, respectively.
