Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week - April 6

MADISON, Wis.--Following are the WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of March 30 - April 5.

BASEBALL
Position

Tanner Hraby, Sophomore (Medford, Wis./Medford), Infield of UW-River Falls
Hraby helped UW-River Falls to three wins in five games during the week, hitting .478 (11-for-23) with four runs scored, a double, home run, and two RBIs. He also added four stolen bases. In the field, he accumulated a .962 fielding percentage with 11 putouts and 14 assists.

Pierce Nelson, Senior (La Crosse, Wis./La Crosse Logan), Pitcher of UW-Platteville
Nelson threw a seven-inning complete game in a 12-0 win over UW-River Falls on April 3. He was one out away from a no-hitter, holding the Falcons hitless across 6.2 innings until a double in the seventh. Nelson needed just 84 pitches to get through the seven innings and struck out one while walking just one.

Offense
Emma Collins, Sophomore (Andover, Minn./Andover), Attack of Hamline University
Collins had eight goals and three assists for 11 points in a 26-0 win over Augsburg. She matched the program record for goals in a game. Collins also had 15 shots, including 12 on goal, and added four ground balls.

Griege faced 34 goals and saved 14, recording a game-high save percentage .609 in the Pointers’ conference-opening 16-9 win over UW-Stout on April 1. She currently leads the conference in save percentage with .553 in seven games played.

Siri Springer, Junior (Circle Pines, Minn./Mounds Park Academy), Thirdbase of UW-Eau Claire
Against Hope College (Mich.) on April 4, Springer went 5-for-6 from the plate with five singles, averaging .833. Along with her two RBI's and team leading batting average, Springer slugged at a .833 rate and tallied an on-base percentage of .857.

Follette went 2-0 with a 0.69 earned run average in two appearances. She earned a 7-5 victory over the University of Dubuque (Iowa) on March 30, going 6.1 innings, allowing four hits, one earned run and two walks with eight strikeouts. Follette picked up the win in a 3-1 victory at Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) on April 3, pitching 4.0 innings, allowing one hit and one unearned run while striking out three. She pitched 10.1 innings overall, allowing five hits, one earned run and two walks with eight strikeouts.

MEN’S TENNIS
West Division - Singles
Theo Billson, Junior (Lindfield, England/BHASVIC), of UW-Whitewater
Theo Billson defeated Gage Gohl from Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) in the Warhawks’ dual match against the Gusties on April 4. Billson, ranked No. 26 in the ITA rankings, fell in the first set 3-6, but bounced back with a 6-4 second set. He defeated Gohl, ranked No. 4 in the ITA rankings, in the third set tiebreaker.

West Division - Doubles

Contardi and Hehli earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles over UW-Stevens Point's Ayden Knuth/Augie Nelson in UW-La Crosse's dual win on April 4.

Shehata went 3-0 at No. 4 singles during the week, including a win in a 3rd-set tiebreaker against Haverford College (Pa.).

East Division - Doubles
William Schmid, Senior (Yonkers, N.Y./Salesian) & Chris Chippari, Junior (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham), of SUNY Oneonta
Schmid and Chippari went 2-0 in doubles play at No. 1 doubles during the week to help Oneonta go 1-1 overall. The Red Dragons duo defeated No. 67-ranked Vivaan Gupta and Reilly Fowles of Union College (N.Y.) 6-4. Chippari and Schmid then bested Farmingdale State College’s (N.Y.) top duo, Zakaria Ahmed and Devan Melandro, 6-3, to help Oneonta earn the doubles match point. The Red Dragons went on to celebrate Senior Day with a 4-3 victory over the Rams.

In not great weather conditions at the Ashton May Invitational on April 3, Schroeder ran a time of 14.19 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. This time is the top time this season in the WIAC and second on the NCAA III Honor Roll while ranking fourth all-time at UW-La Crosse.

Gavin Fritsch, Senior (Little Chute, Wis./Little Chute Career Pathways Academy), of UW-Oshkosh
Fritsch won a pair of events in his first outdoor meet of the season, claiming the top spot in the discus and hammer throw at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on April 3. His 160-3 (48.85m) mark in the discus ranks No. 20 in NCAA Division III this season, while his 192-11 (58.80m) throw in the hammer ranks sixth.

Kylee Grabarski, Senior (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee), of UW-Eau Claire
Grabarski kicked off the outdoor season with a win in the 400-meter dash at the Ashton May Invitational on April 3. Her final time of 57.38 seconds ranks first in the WIAC and No. 29 in NCAA Division III.

Behnke took the top spot in the discus with a throw of 148-9 (45.33m) that ranks first in the WIAC and seventh in NCAA Division III. During the hammer throw, Behnke reached 165-10 (50.55m) to place third during the meet with her mark that sits second furthest in the WIAC and No. 18 in NCAA Division III.
