UW-La Crosse In First Place At Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship

PLATTEVILLE, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has the lead following the first day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver’s) at Williams Fieldhouse on Feb. 27.

The three-time defending champion Eagles have accumulated 118 points through seven events. UW-Oshkosh is second with 59, UW-Stevens Point third with 23, UW-Eau Claire fourth with 20, UW-Platteville, UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater are tied for fifth with 16, and UW-River Falls eighth with five.
 
UW-La Crosse won three individual events and one relay title in the initial day of the championship. Collin Conzemius claimed his second straight title in the 400-meter dash with a championship record time of 47.44 seconds. Aidan Matthai was victorious in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:22.02. He also won the event in 2024. Joey Sullivan placed first in the one-mile run with a time of 4:10.69.
 
UW-La Crosse’s distance medley relay squad of Parker Hintz, Zach Nyquist, Ethan Eilertson and Aiden Jakubic posted a first-place time of 10:09.46. Luke Schroeder broke the NCAA Division III record and conference championship record in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.67 seconds.
 
UW-Oshkosh’s Joshua Rivers won the long jump for the third straight year with a conference championship record distance of 25-11 1/2 (7.91m). Collin Kao secured the pole vault with a height of 17-1 (5.21m).
 
UW-Eau Claire’s Gage Stankiewicz had a first-place toss of 58-9 (17.91m) in the shot put.
