MEN'S BASKETBALL Sam Grieger, Junior (Randolph, Wis./Randolph), Guard of UW-La Crosse Grieger averaged 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two UW-La Crosse victories during the week. He finished with 21 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block in a 72-50 win at UW-Stout on Jan. 21. Grieger totaled 29 points, including 17 in the second half, along with five rebounds, four assists and two steals in an 80-77 victory over No. 23-ranked UW-Stevens Point on Jan. 24. On Jan. 23, he netted UW-Eau Claire's second and seventh goal of the game, while assisting on the fourth goal, as the Blugolds posted a 7-2 victory. On Jan. 24, Easton opened the game with a powerplay goal in the second period and then tied the game at 2-2 in the third as UW-Eau Claire defeated the Buccaneers 3-2. After assisting UW-Eau Claire's second goal of the game on Jan. 23, Hansen extended the Blugolds' lead to 3-1 in the second period with her eighth goal of the season. On Jan. 24, Hansen recorded her ninth and 10th goals of the season as she opened the scoring in the first period for UW-Eau Claire just three minutes into the game. Adrienne tallied her eighth multi-point game of the year with her second goal of the game in the second period, helping the Blugolds post the 5-0 victory. (Farmington) MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING Swimming Preston Nygaard, Freshman (McFarland, Wis./McFarland), of UW-La Crosse Nygaard won three events and was a member of two first-place relays in helping lead UW-La Crosse to the team title at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational on Jan. 23-24. He captured the 100-yard breaststroke (55.47 seconds) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:00.06), and 200-yard individual medley (1:55.08). Nygaard was also on the winning 400-yard medley relay (3:24.11) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:10.27). He set school records in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, breaking Adam Baryenbruch's record of 55.54 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke set in 2021 and Ben Collins' record of 2:03.21 in the 200-yard breaststroke set in 2025. He also set a UW-Stevens Point Aquatics Center facility record, breaking the time of 55.74 seconds set by William Buhler of UW-Stevens Point in 2021. She captured the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.67) and 400-yard individual medley (4:42.52) and 200-yard butterfly (2:14.44). Pulvermacher was also on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.44) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:37.55). Her time in the 200-yard individual medley ranks first on the WIAC Honor Roll. (Plymouth) MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD Track Luke Schroeder, Senior (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon), of UW-La Crosse In his first meet of the indoor season, Schroeder competed in both the 60-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash. In the 60-meter hurdles, he ran a time of 7.82 seconds in the prelims. This time is the fastest time so far this season in NCAA Division III. He just missed his own school record of 7.80 seconds. Then in the 200-meter dash, Schroeder won the event with a time of 21.61 seconds (21.23 seconds banked track time). (Andover) WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD Track Izzy Peterson, Senior (Lexington, Ky./Roosevelt), of UW-Platteville Peterson won the 60- and 200- meter dash at the WIAC Triangular hosted by UW-Stevens Point on Jan. 24, breaking a pair of school records in the process. In the 60-meter trails, Peterson started her day running 7.60 seconds, followed by a 7.57 seconds time in the finals. That time was a .10 second personal best and currently ranks second in the NCAA Division III Indoor National List. She then closed her day by running a .49 second personal best in the 200-meter dash of 24.33 seconds. That vault ranks first in the conference and NCAA Division III, and set the meet record, facility record, and UW-Stout school record. The vault also ranks 10th indoors in NCAA Division III history. Against Milwaukee School of Engineering, he clinched the match point at the No. 4 singles flight with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. In the Warhawks' second match of the day against Carroll University (Wis.), Michaels won the No. 3 singles flight (6-4, 6-1). Also nominated: UW-La Crosse, Aiden Meixl, Freshman, Appleton, Wis. UW-Eau Claire was victorious over UW-Stevens Point and UW-Platteville. On Jan. 22, Church defeated the No. 2 regionally ranked Riese Thornberry from UW-Stevens Point by a 19-7 major decision.
