Brian Roser Elevated To Oneonta Men’s & Women’s Head Tennis Coach

ONEONTA, N.Y.--The State University of New York Oneonta Athletics Department and Director of Athletics Ryan Hooper are excited to announce Brian Roser as the next head coach of the Oneonta men's and women's tennis team. Roser is a 2018 graduate of Oneonta and joined the Red Dragons tennis staff as an assistant coach in the Spring of 2025.
 
"SUNY Oneonta Athletics is thrilled to announce the promotion of Brian Roser from Assistant Coach to our new Head Tennis Coach," said Hooper. "Brian made a major impact on both teams when he joined the staff this past Spring as an assistant. He has a deep passion for the game and a commitment to developing student-athletes on and off the court. He also has a strong connection with SUNY Oneonta, being an alum of our Men's Tennis program. We're confident that Coach Roser will be a tremendous leader for our tennis team and an outstanding representative of our athletic department."
 
Roser was a member of the SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team from 2014 to 2017, contributing to the program's success both on and off the court. While playing at Oneonta, he also ran a summer tennis program in the Adirondacks, where he coached group and private lessons and oversaw the entire summer program for four years.
 
"It's an honor to return to SUNY Oneonta as the head men's and women's tennis coach. As an alumnus and former assistant coach, this program has always been incredibly important to me," said Roser. "I'm excited to lead a new generation of Red Dragons and build on the foundation of hard work, resilience, and competitiveness that has always defined Oneonta tennis. Our goal will be to compete at the highest level while helping our student-athletes grow as individuals and teammates. I'm thrilled to continue this journey as a Red Dragon."
 
Since graduating, Roser has been a high school teacher at Morris Central School. He currently serves as the boys' varsity soccer coach, leading the team to its first league championship in over a decade. Roser also dedicates his time to coaching travel soccer for Calcio United Soccer Club in Oneonta, mentoring players from the U12 to U19 levels.
 
Roser earned his bachelor's degree in Adolescent Education with a concentration in Social Studies from SUNY Oneonta in 2018. He went on to complete his master's degree in Literacy Education from SUNY Oneonta in 2020. Originally from Pittsford, NY, Roser graduated from Pittsford Sutherland High School in 2014, where he competed on the varsity tennis and soccer teams.

The Oneonta women's team opens the season on Aug. 28 against Hartwick, while the men begin on Sept. 6 against Farmingdale State.
