UW-Oshkosh Wins Fifth Consecutive Women’s Gymnastics Championship

LA CROSSE, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Gymnastics Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional (presented by Culver’s) at Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse on March 8.
 
The conference title is the fifth consecutive and 19th in program history. UW-Oshkosh won the crown with a championship record score of 193.925. The total broke the previous mark of 193.100 set by the Titans in 2023.
 
UW-La Crosse was second with 192.975, UW-Whitewater third with 192.850, Winona State University (Minn.) fourth with 191.900, UW-Stout fifth with 191.250, UW-Eau Claire sixth with 189.250, Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) seventh with 188.500, Simpson College (Iowa) eighth with 187.900 and Hamline University (Minn.) ninth with 181.875.
 
The conference championship also served as the West Regional qualifier for the NCGA Championship that will be conducted March 22 and hosted by Gustavus Adolphus. UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse earned automatic spots into the national event by placing in the top two. At-large positions will be announced at a later date.
 
UW-Oshkosh won a pair of individual titles, as Amanda McConkay claimed the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.800, and Jay Ratkowski was victorious in the floor exercise with a score of 9.825.
 
UW-La Crosse’s Lucy Warren and Raina Christenson shared first place in the balance beam with a score of 9.285, while Winona State’s Kennedy O’Connor claimed the vault with a score of 9.825. She is the second individual in program history to win the event, joining Jena Jondahl in 2011.
 
UW-Stout’s Gillian Cummins won the all-around with a score of 38.625.
 
UW-Oshkosh’s Delaney Cienkus was selected the Kwik Trip Gymnast of the Year, while UW-Stout’s Jamie Beatty was named the Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women's gymnastics this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in women’s gymnastics at their previous institution.
 
UW-Whitewater head coach Jen Regan was tabbed the Kwik Trip Coach of the Year, and UW-Eau Claire’s Harriet Toth received the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award.
 
An All-Sportsmanship Team was announced for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school. Named to the squad were: Gustavus Adolphus College’s Kaylee Bauder; Hamline University’s Julia Cheely; Simpson College’s Kaley Bristow; UW-Eau Claire’s Kelsey Donovan; UW-La Crosse’s Raina Christenson; UW-Oshkosh’s Aleah Radojevich; UW-Stout’s Emma Brittingham; UW-Whitewater’s Ava Pesch; and Winona State University’s Ashley Phillips.
