Women's Lacrosse 5/30/2024 11:55:22 AM Three Affiliate Members Added In Women’s Lacrosse MADISON, Wis.--Augsburg University (Minn.), Hamline University (Minn.) and College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) will join the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) as affiliate members in women’s lacrosse beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. The trio will join WIAC full-time members UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Stout, along with affiliate members Colorado College and Southwestern University (Texas). The 2024 season was the first for women’s lacrosse in conference history. The WIAC will receive an automatic NCAA bid beginning with the 2026 season. “We are thrilled to add these three outstanding institutions for women’s lacrosse,” commented WIAC Commissioner Danielle Harris. “We had an exciting first season and these additions will enhance the growth of women’s lacrosse.” "As the first school in Minnesota to sponsor the sport a decade ago, we are thrilled to join our fellow Minnesota colleges in joining the WIAC as affiliate members in women's lacrosse,” Augsburg University Athletic Director Jeff Swenson said. “We have faced these schools in nonconference play for many years, and it will now be exciting to face them with conference titles and national tournament berths on the line." “We are very excited to join the WIAC as an affiliate member for women's lacrosse,” said Hamline University Director of Athletics Alex Focke. “We look forward to working with the other member institutions to continue to grow the sport of women's lacrosse.
