MEN'S BASKETBALL Carter Husckha, Senior (Farmington, Minn./Farmington), Forward of UW-Eau Claire Huschka posted his second double-double of the season in a 76-58 victory over University of Northwestern - St. Paul (Minn.) on Dec. 11. He scored 22 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and distributed five assists against the Eagles. All three totals were game highs, and his 14 rebounds were a season high. (Burlington) WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Kacie Carollo, Senior (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater), Guard of UW-Whitewater Carollo registered a career-high 33 points – a mark the ties for seventh in the UW-Whitewater record book for points in a game – in the Warhawks’ 65-58 win over Wheaton College (Ill.) on Dec. 11. She shot 42% from the floor (10-of-24) hitting three three-pointers in the contest. Carollo tallied a career-best 10 free throws made and hauled in 10 rebounds for the double-double. (West) MEN’S ICE HOCKEY Kullan Daikawa, Junior (Lino Lakes, Minn.), Forward of UW-Stout Daikawa tallied three goals and an assist in a pair of overtime games against No. 14-ranked UW-River Falls during the week. On Dec. 13, he scored on the powerplay and then tallied the game winner in overtime in a 4-3 victory. Daikawa also assisted on UW-Stout's second goal of the game. After being held off the scoresheet in a 4-4 tie at College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) and a 2-1 home win over Concordia College-Moorhead (Minn.) on Dec. 13, MacLean led UW-Superior to a 4-3 victory over the Cobbers on Dec. 14. She scored the first goal of the game and added another early in the third period. For the week, MacLean scored 2-0-2, had seven shots on goal and finished plus-2. (Maple Grove) MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD Track Tyran Bender, Freshman (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais), of UW-Oshkosh In his first collegiate meet, Bender set the Kolf Sports Center facility record in the 400-meter dash with a first-place time of 48.50 seconds. Also nominated: UW-River Falls, Cooper Hennemann, Freshman, Dresser, Wis. (Osceola) Field Joshua Rivers, Junior (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook), of UW-Oshkosh Rivers soared 26-8 1/4 (8.13m) in the long jump to become the first athlete in NCAA Division III history to eclipse eight meters, regardless of venue, and shattered Shawn Watson's division record of 26-1 1/2 (7.96m) that had stood since 1996. Rivers also set a personal record in the 200-meter dash at 22.24 seconds to finish second in that event and sit seventh on the seasonal Descending Order List. (New Richmond) WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD Track Brielle Kuechle, Sophomore (Eden Valley, Minn./Eden Balley-Watkins), of UW-River Falls Kuechle placed second in the 60-meter hurdles at the Opener at College of Saint Scholastica (Minn.), clocking in at 9.25 seconds. The time ranks seventh all-time in the UW-River Falls record book and stands first in the WIAC. In addition to finishing as runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles, Kuechle won the women’s high jump with a height of 5-3 (1.60m). Also nominated: UW-Oshkosh, Cyna Madigan, Senior, Rosendale, Wis. (Laconia) Field Lauryn Schutz, Freshman (St. Paul, Minn./St. Croix Prep), of UW-River Falls Schutz was the top collegiate finisher in the shot put at the Opener at College of Saint Scholastica (Minn.), throwing 40-2 1/4 (12.25m). Her throw currently stands second best in the WIAC. Also nominated: UW-Oshkosh, Megan Hunt, Senior, Lemont, Ill. (Lemont) WRESTLING Dominik Mallinder, Junior (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park), 133 pounds of UW-Whitewater Mallinder won the 133-pound title at the 60th Annual North Central College (Ill.) Invitational on Dec. 14. Mallinder, fourth in the NWCA rankings, took his first bout of the day by fall in 3:39. He followed with a technical fall (18-2) and a major decision (15-3) to secure his spot in the championship bout. Mallinder battled back from a 9-2 deficit to defeat No. 2-ranked Jaden Hinton of Baldwin Wallace College (Ohio) for the title. He registered a takedown with 1:31 left in the match, adding riding time for the 14-10 decision. Also nominated: UW-Eau Claire, Izzy Balsiger, Junior, 125 pounds, Chippewa Falls, Wis.
