Student-Athlete Spotlight: Amanda Stanczuk, UW-Platteville

Each week during the 2022-23 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a “Student-Athlete Spotlight” Q & A segment. Why did you choose UW-Platteville?
Platteville has a very well-known forensic investigation program and I also was able to try out for the softball team.
 
What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved in?
PSAAC

What causes do you care about?
Mental health of students. I have personally struggled with my mental health throughout my college career, so I try to be as approachable as possible when it comes to talking openly about mental health.
 
What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?
Anyone can win any game. Last year, we beat Eau Claire twice, they ended up winning the WIAC and going to nationals. Just goes to show that this is one of the best Division III conferences in the US and anyone can win any day.

A non-athletic talent that you have is? 
I can juggle... not sure of that counts.

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If so, what are they?
I usually will braid my hair before a game, or I will watch Division I softball highlights.
