UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater Fall in NCAA Softball Super Regionals Action

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater had their seasons come to an end in the Super Regionals of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship on May 23.
 
It was the first time in history that two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams reached the Super Regionals.
 
UW-Stevens Point was eliminated by Trine University (Ind.) after the Thunder posted a 3-1 victory in Algoma, Ind. Trine won the first game of the best-of-three 7-0. The Pointers completed the 2025 campaign with a 31-15 record and made their first back-to-back NCAA appearances since the 1998 and 1999 seasons. It was the first Super Regional appearance in program history.
 
UW-Whitewater emerged with a 5-3 win over Saint Mary’s University (Minn.) in Winona, Minn., in the opening game of their Super Regional. The victory was the 800th in the career of head coach Brenda Volk, who ranks eighth on the NCAA Division III all-time list in career wins.
 
Saint Mary’s bounced back with 4-0 and 7-1 victories to win the Super Regional. It was the first time that UW-Whitewater lost back-to-back games all year. UW-Whitewater finished the 2025 season with a 39-8 record and won the WIAC regular-season championship. The Warhawks made their second Super Regional appearance and received their 25th NCAA bid.
