Softball 6/7/2022 3:02:49 PM UW-Platteville’s Plautz Named To Academic All-America® Softball Team Official CoSIDA Release MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Rachel Plautz has been named to the 2022 NCAA Division III Academic All-America® Softball Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. A catcher from Wausau, Wis. (D.C. Everest), Plautz is the third Academic All-America® selection in program history, joining Lynn Nagy (1993) and Jennifer Zell (1994). Plautz graduated in May with a degree in mechanical engineering and maintained a 3.80 grade point average. She hit .361 with four home runs, nine doubles and 27 runs scored during the 2022 campaign. Plautz appeared in all 32 games behind the plate and led the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) throwing out 14 would-be base stealers. She secured All-WIAC first team honors this season, after receiving honorable mention status in 2019 and 2021. Plautz is a four-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and UW-Platteville’s Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic All-District® and All-America® award, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, must be starters or key reserves who have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests at the position listed on the nomination form and must have completed one full calendar year at their current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years. # # # # #
