Women's Ice Hockey 12/8/2022 8:43:13 AM Student-Athlete Spotlight: Olivia Schultz, UW-Stevens Point Each week during the 2022-23 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a “Student-Athlete Spotlight” Q & A segment. The segments will be posted every Thursday and individuals are selected by the institution. The WIAC Student-Athlete Spotlights are presented by Culver's. Name: Olivia Schultz Institution: UW-Stevens Point Hometown (High School): St. Paul Minn. (Tartan High School) Year in school: 5th Year Sport: Women’s Ice Hockey Major: Biochemistry Minor: Neuroscience and Behavior Why did you choose UW-Stevens Point? Academically, I really enjoy the small town feel of Stevens Point and small class sizes. Athletically, our team is truly a second family and that starts with our coaching staff. Our coaches really want us to be good people. While we all want to win, they care about us as individuals on and off the ice and that was clear from day one. What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved in? I am a member of SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) and I was a member of our biochemistry club on campus in undergrad. What causes do you care about? I am very passionate about mental health in both athletes and our community. An organization that hits close to home for me is the Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance (FBHA) focusing on mental health and resources for firefighters who serve in our community. What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete? The WIAC brings our toughest competition. We have a very strong conference that pushes us to perform at our best every day. Being a Division III athlete has allowed me to become the best version of myself and excel both in the classroom and on the ice. It gives me a great balance of the things that are most important to me. What is your favorite… Menu item from Culver’s?
