Student-Athlete Spotlight: Noah Hanson, UW-River Falls

Each week during the 2022-23 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a “Student-Athlete Spotlight” Q & A segment. The segments will be posted every Thursday and individuals are selected by the institution. The WIAC Student-Athlete Spotlights are presented by Culver's.

Why did you choose UW-River Falls?
I chose UWRF because I really saw myself becoming a better player and person here. The coaching staff that I met in high school were very welcoming and believed in me becoming a good player. The Falcon Center was a big thing as well, because in my eyes it’s the best Division III facility in the country and could see myself playing in Page Arena and using that place to become a better player.

What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved in?
None.

What causes do you care about?
Special Olympics, during my time here I was able to help in a few events with the Special Olympics and enjoyed interacting with the Special Olympics kids and have a good time playing basketball as well as other sports and activities.

What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?
What I like most about competing in the WIAC is that I think it is the best conference in the country and anybody can beat anybody no matter who is playing. Everyone that you are playing will be getting their best and every team has elite talent and coaching. Everybody respects everybody and nobody is overlooked. What I like about being a student-athlete is the comradery between our team and the teams on campus. At the Division III level, all of our sports teams support another, and I think that is what makes us Division III sports special.
