MADISON, Wis.
--University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s Leah Porath was chosen the Player of the Year to lead the individuals selected to the 2021 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Basketball Team by the league coaches. In addition, UW-Stout’s Anna Mutch and UW-Oshkosh’s Kennedy Osterman were tabbed Co-Newcomers of the Year and UW-Eau Claire’s Tonja Englund the Coach of the Year.

Porath claimed Player of the Year distinction for the second straight season, becoming the fifth individual in conference archives to accomplish the feat. She is the fourth Titan to receive the top honor, joining Wendy Wangerin (1996), Holly Spoo (1998) and Taylor Schmidt (2017).

Porath led the WIAC with 18.7 points per game, while ranking second with a .534 field goal percentage, and seventh with 6.5 rebounds per contest and a .769 free throw percentage. Porath scored at least 20 points in five games, including a career-high 35 points against UW-La Crosse in the semifinals of the WIAC Championship.

Mutch was the highest scoring freshman in the conference with 10.6 points per contest. She ranked third in the WIAC with 7.1 rebounds per game, sixth with a .775 free throw percentage and 10th with a .449 field goal percentage. Mutch reached double figures in scoring in six games.

Osterman started all 11 contests for the Titans and produced 6.3 points per game, including a season-high 15 points against UW-Platteville on Feb. 5. A Newcomer of the Year is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women’s basketball this season.

UW-Platteville’s Maiah Domask and UW-Whitewater’s Johanna Taylor were repeat selections on the first team from a season ago, while Domask and UW-La Crosse’s Emma Gamoke also claimed first team recognition in 2019. Domask is just the third three-time first team selection in program archives. Taylor also earned a spot on the five-member All-Defensive Team for the second straight year.

Englund received the coaching honor for the second time in her career (2003) after leading the Blugolds to an 8-2 record. UW-Eau Claire registered a 6-0 mark in West Division contests and the top seed in the division. Englund owns a 354-204 record in 21 seasons in charge of the program.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school.
