MADISON, Wis.
--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Sophie Amundson was selected the Offensive Player of the Year, while UW-Oshkosh’s Mackenzie Bennett was chosen the Defensive Player of the Year to lead the individuals picked to the 2021 All-WIAC Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Soccer Team by the league coaches. In addition, UW-Oshkosh’s Molly Jackson received Newcomer of the Year recognition and UW-Oshkosh secured Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Amundson collected first team recognition for the second time in her career (2019). She is the second player in school archives to win the offensive award, joining Margaret Harings in 2017 and 2018. Amundson is second in the WIAC with four game-winning goals, third with 25 points and fifth with nine goals. She had at least one point in 12 contests and a season-high four points on three occasions.

Bennett contributed six goals and two assists for 14 points, as well as three game-winning goals. She spearheaded a defense that topped the WIAC with 10 shutouts and a .68 goals-against-average. Bennett joins Anna Beckerleg (2013) and Ashley Siewert (2015) as previous Titans to claim the defensive honor.

Jackson recorded five goals and four assists for 14 points. She also had two game-winning goals. A Newcomer of the Year is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women’s soccer this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they did not compete in women’s soccer while attending that institution.

Repeat selections on the first team from a season ago included: UW-Eau Claire’s Kiki Kussow and Emma Stange; UW-La Crosse’s Katie Feller (Defensive Player of the Year) and Quinn Shannon; UW-Stevens Point’s Kati Frierdich; UW-Whitewater’s Anna Boyd, Anna Brodjian (Offensive Player of the Year) and Katy Kusswurm. UW-Platteville’s Amber Lueder received first team distinction in 2018.

Boyd also collected first team accolades in 2017 and 2018. She is the program’s second four-time first team selection, joining Brianna Reid (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016).

Coaching Staff of the Year accolades were presented to UW-Oshkosh after winning the WIAC regular-season and tournament titles. The regular-season crown was the second in program archives, while the tournament championship was the third in school history. The Titans enter the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship with a 16-2-1 record. The 16 victories are a program record. The staff consists of head coach Erin Coppernoll and assistant coach CJ Dwyer.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was announced for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each team.
